John, I agree, sorry is not a solution, but it is the start of the conversation :)

This is so helpful - particularly when I mentor new entrants to the VC world. Typically younger, hyper ambitious but also lacking experience. Thanks for sharing ✨

Love that you called out the younger crowd, Chris... what’s been the biggest lesson for them?

I have a model for them that simplifies success but if I'd pick a few things it's - go all in on some tough environments to gain diverse skills that you can converge ie a sales boot camp & a product development house or a product development house & a growth marketing agency. Treat it like a sprint of knowledge acquisition & focus on elite performance not whether your boss is brilliant (that's a distraction). So the skills convergence makes you 1. Unique & the elite performance gives you 2. Pedigree that is 3. Infinitely more valuable. Something like that gives them a strong roadmap to break out. I hope this helps

John this is absolute gold. Thank you. In particular I think the one-page incident template would be of huge help to employees as well as founders, who most likely have more of a handle on the bigger picture of why (and when) to say sorry. 🙏
