This is where AI slop gets costly inside a business. The person making the report saves time, then the person receiving it has to do all the thinking that was skipped.
Nailed it. Nailed it. Nailed it. It's a major issue that isn't getting discussed enough about slop inside of companies, and the problems it creates for leadership.
Dear John, your article makes me think about what is happening to IT engineers... they produce so much that now they need AI to take charge of the quality control. They don't seem to see that "throwing everything" to AI agents is actually throwing their individual value out the window.
AI can make the first draft faster, but the real value comes from the judgment, curation, and editing that make the final work useful. The goal shouldn’t just be more output, but better decisions
“Plausible” output does not mean you used the necessary critical thinking, judgment, and taste to create something additive, insightful, and meaningful. Every leader and manager delegates and gets back tons of slop with insights buried somewhere. This is huge problem in the org. This is indeed a path forward, John.
