John, I’m reading this from the other side: you were one of my first five subscribers, and that one subscription did more than you probably know. It was the moment I first thought “maybe this actually works” — that I get to tell my stories here and someone listens. What speaks to me most in your path is the unscalable gesture: the small, direct thing that builds trust. That’s exactly where I am right now. Three weeks from the end of a contract I’ve chosen not to renew, and on my way toward a coaching offer of my own. Thank you for being there early.🫶🏻
Incredible breakdown, John. The '0 to 55,000' proof-post strategy is brilliant, but your emphasis on clear vs. clever headlines is the reminder we all needed today. Love seeing how you leveraged an AI stack to pull this off solo. Congratulations on the massive milestone!
This is a masterclass in leveraging the "unscalable" to build positioning depth, John.
The point that resonated most with my work in brand perception is how you used those 400 hours of low-ticket coaching sessions. Most creators treat low-ticket offers as a quick cash injection; you treated them as a high-fidelity research lab to map your audience's exact perception gaps. That’s precisely why your upper-tier advisory and high-ticket offers converted so naturally afterward—you stopped guessing their vocabulary and started using theirs.
Also, huge respect for building the 81-post back-catalog in silence first. In an era where everyone demands instant authority, building the library before the crowd arrives is the ultimate silent differentiator.
Brilliant breakdown—saving this for the AI workflow notes! ✦
Making the first offer deliberately unscalable, $25 an hour of his own time, specifically to build trust and testimonials before creating anything scalable, reframes something I've been getting backwards. I keep trying to make my first offer efficient, when apparently the inefficiency itself was doing the actual work.
this whole piece is basically my operating manual right now. the back catalog point is the one that stings — i'm 3 months into publishing and still thinking "who's going to read this?" when the real job is just building the library so it exists when the distribution finally clicks. the AI-as-team thing resonates too but honestly the harder part for me hasn't been the tools — claude can write and design fine — it's deciding which of the six paths to chase first when you're still validating which one actually works. did you pick the coaching lane because you already knew it would convert, or was that part of the experiment too?
John, fantastic story. Love it. As you know I have been a witness and participant of all of this, so there is much admiration about your work and tenacity. Awesome job!
Amazing work! It has been a joy following your work
Thank you my friend! Likewise! 🤓🙏🏼

Great to see how you've pushed the envelope, found your voice, and created real value for your readers, John.
Amazing work John. You have the rare combination of being extremely sharp, yet down to earth at the same time.
Great work 👍
