How are capital-intensive corporations new? What you are describing sounds to me like a hedge firm, a film production company or a baseball team. Admittedly, not great news for those of us who can't hit a curve ball.

Great comparison’s Fred. Especially intersting to think about relative to Bezos’s start in the hedge funds with D.E. Shaw.

I see the current strategy as a clear byproduct of their DNA and as a response to Wall Street’s demanding requirements. Ultimately, they are clearly efficiency and financially driven.

Thanks! I think the domino effect will be swift. Once a few major players prove the model and the ROI becomes undeniable, the competitive pressure will force everyone to follow. The tools are now accessible enough that it's no longer a question of if, but how fast they can make the shift.
